General Behaviour

We are, before anything else, a faction of friends and there is no substitute for general friendliness with each other. Disruptive, rude, disrespectful or hostile behavior, including profanity, threats, slurs, trolling, baiting and general misconduct are not acceptable and will result in the offender being removed from the faction. We also operate a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying, harassing or discriminating against any of our members. This extends to all forms of diversity discrimination whether that be homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism or any other form of discrimination or abuse not listed here.

Newsletters and Council Instructions

Reading Newsletters and Leadership instructions is of the utmost importance. Torn is a text-based game and reading newsletters is expected. "It is too long" is not an excuse for not reading instructions. If you cannot, or do not want to, read newsletters then you are in the wrong place. A TL;DR will be provided where possible, but sometimes all of the information is pertinent.

  • Every member of the Council is equal in terms of authority and instructions given by any of them should be followed.
  • This authority extends to our War Captains - Xentac and Arcanine - during the periods where our Council is unavailable.
  • Failure to respond to Council requests, or failure to follow instructions given by the Council will result in removal from the faction.

Inactivity

Some level of inactivity is fine — it happens. We understand that you have your own life outside of Torn City. However, not knowing you're absent makes things awkward for us as leadership.

  • We expect you to be active daily most of the time.
  • If you are going to be inactive, please report it here: Away Thread
  • If you are inactive for more than 3 days without posting in the away thread, you may find yourself kicked

Donator/Subscriber Status

Donator or subscriber status is an integral part of Torn and we require everyone to have one of these.

  • Donator status offers many perks such as extra energy, and faster regeneration, advanced search, donator forum and notebook
  • Subscriber status offers all of the above plus monthly points and gifts

Private Island

A Private Island is essential for various reasons, and we require you to live in one.

  • Private Island offers you the ability to fly for free
  • Private Island increases your base happiness, meaning your gym gains are increased

Wars

Ranked wars are a good source of income. These can be termed, bringing easy money. Or untermed, having to fight for the money. We often try to term our wars, but — being a warring faction — we will not hesitate to fight it out.

  • We require regular participation in untermed wars.
  • We war (almost) weekly
  • After a hard-fought untermed war, leadership often schedules a week without a war
  • We have at least 1 break of 31 days each year, to allow people to use books
  • War rules can be found here or on the forum
  • Repeatedly having no, or well below average, participation in wars over a sustained period may see you being kicked.

Chains

Chaining is an important part of faction life, chaining produces respect, which buys us faction perks such as bonus nerve, bonus booster cooldown, gym gains etc.

  • We tend to have a minimum of 2 chains per year (Valentine's Day and Halloween)
  • We require you to make 0.5% minimum hits during a chain; everyone should pull their own weight
  • Bonus hits (and thus the accompanying merits) are assigned to people; make sure you regularly check mails and faction chat during any chain, so the bonus hit goes to the assigned person

A guide to chaining (and warring) can be found here

Training

Training is one of the biggest parts of Torn gameplay for many reasons, e.g., attacking, mugging, defending, warring etc.

  • We require you to train a minimum of 750 energy daily whether that is through natural energy, refills, xanax or boosters. Exceptions made for those who are happy jumping.

Organised Crimes

Organised crimes are important to all of us! The members get 80% of the money made from Organised Crimes; the other 20% goes towards faction supplies, be it weapons, armor, drugs, meds, boosters etc.

  • We require you to be in Torn when your OC is ready
  • We require you to join a new OC within 48 hours after your previous OC has ended.

Although we generally all do a great job of being in Torn for OCs, we occassionally have delays. Mistakes happen, so the first delay is not penalised. However, a 2nd delay within a 6-month period will result in a fine of 500k per level of the OC (paid from your faction balance). This is a rolling period meaning you can and will receive consecutive fines for any delay beyond your first within the same 6-month period. The fine will be paid to those members you held up by not being in torn. This will count as compensation for time they've lost waiting for you, rendering them unable to fly to make money.

A basic guide to OCs can be found here and the roles/requirements here.

Faction Armory

The faction armory contains various weapons and armors. These may be used by members.

  • Nothing in the armory belongs to one member specifically, so if it's available in the armory then any member may use it.
  • If someone has armor or weapons loaned out to themselves and they are offline or idle for over 15 minutes, those items can be retrieved for use.
  • If you require the same set of armour or weapons 24/7 then it is your responsibility to purchase yourself a personal set for this use. The faction armoury is a communal, shared armoury.
  • Leadership may retrieve and redistribute those items before a ranked war, so that the faction benefits most from them
